Little Treasures Preschool

Little Treasures PreschoolLittle Treasures Preschool in Los Angeles had an outdated website that didn't show off their facility and services well. We created a new web-site for them using Joomla!, the open source content management system. The site features:

  • A professional site design
  • Valid HTML to support higher search engine rankings
  • Multiple pages describing their school, philosophy, programs and staff
  • A photo gallery showing off their facility and amenities
  • Google Calendar integration, providing separate calendars for meals and activities

Labella Bridal & Consignment Boutique

Labella Bridal and Consignment BoutiqueLabella Bridal & Consignment Boutique in Occoquan, Virginia, carries both new and consigned wedding gowns, formal wear, business wear and chic casual wear. Despite having an attractive site, it was static, showing only stock images to suggest the types of items available. They wanted instead to show the actual items being sold in the store, both new and consigned.  After discussions, we agreed that they needed the ability to easily add new and consigned items to an on-line catalog, and then remove them again once they were no longer available. Moreover, they needed to have staff members do this, rather than pay a web master to continually update the site.

We rebuilt their existing site using the open source content management software Joomla! and the e-commerce extension VirtueMart. As part of this process, we converted their existing site design to a Joomla! template and applied it to the site, maintaining the established branding.

Healthy-and-Free.com

healthy-and-free.comThis client needed a simple site, consisting of a landing page, a contact form and a confirmation page. They had a very small budget, but we were able to create the pages they wanted, using simple, attractive styling and a banner graphic.

The contact form collects the information desired by the client, validates it and prompts the user if something was not entered correctly. To prevent the form from being used to send spam, we implemented the well known reCAPTCHA service. In addition to preventing abuse, it also performs a public service by helping to digitize books that are in the public domain.

HaveTex

havetexcomHaveTex is a computer support firm in Northern Virginia. They supply managed services, network and firewall consulting, hardware repair, malware removal and a host of other services. As part of their growth and rebranding, they wanted a new web-site with a professional look that they could maintain themselves.

After meeting to discuss their needs, we determined that the site needed three components:

  1. The main web-site, which would list services, provide contact information and provide testimonials from clients.
  2. A blog for one the owners to talk about technical topics.
  3. A wiki for internal documentation of both the site's administrative needs and the business's processes.

Main Site

We created the main web-site with a professional appearance that meshes with HaveTex's branding. The home page lists the services provided and links to pages with more details. Contact information is prominent and there is a "book now" button that allows visitors to set appointments on-line.

The site has drop-down menus, an internal search feature, and context-sensitive, random testimonials from satisfied clients.

ConNextLA

ConNextLAConNextLA is a group of business professionals in Los Angeles. They wanted to update the design of their site and add some functionality as well. Celtic Wolf made the following changes:

  • Customized the open source template "JA Purity" to use ConNextLA's colors and images, resulting in a new, clean, professional appearance
  • Modified the format of the event listings to match ConNextLA's requirements
  • Added a "member spotlight" box on the left side to randomly show a shot description of a member
  • Changed the member listing page to show only the first few sentences of each member's description, followed by a "read more" link
  • Provided a way to have the image on the member's page appear on the left or the right. Text is wrapped around it smoothly, allowing for a more varied and professional layout.
