Postnews

PostNews is a Win32 console utility for posting messages to Usenet newsgroups. It uses the NNTP protocol (RFC 977) to upload one or more messages to a specified newsserver.

Features:

  • Support for wildcards in the file specification.
  • News server is specified on the command line, so PostNews can be used with a different server each time it is run.
  • Support for "original" authentication (RFC 2980)
  • Status messages written to screen. Can be redirected to file.
  • Option for displaying entire NNTP session.
  • Option to delete messages that are successfully posted
  • Option to move messages that are successfully posted

Newslist

NewsList is a Win32 console utility for obtaining a list of groups on a news server. It uses the NNTP protocol (RFC 977) to retrieve the information from one or more specified newsservers.

Features:

  • Can read list of servers to check from a file or single server from the command line
  • Status messages written to screen. Can be redirected to file
  • List of groups can be written to a file. If checking multiple servers, data for each can be written to individual files or all to one large file.
  • Option for displaying entire NNTP session
